L'Escala is a town that is full of life all year round, evident from the numerous activities that are held in each season. Springtime in L'Escala kicks off with the "Diada de Sant Jordi", or St George's Day (23 April), followed by the Mediterranean Triumvirate, a Greco-Roman festival held the second weekend in May, a great event that everyone is sure to enjoy.

In summer, music, festivals and smiles take over the town's streets, which begin to heat up with "L'Aplec de la Sardana" (traditional Catalan dance festival held the first weekend in June) and "La Revetlla de Sant Joan" (midsummer's eve festivities with fireworks held on 23 June). Everyone is welcome at the "Festa de la Mare de Déu del Carme i Homenatge a la Vellesa" a festival held on 16 July to celebrate Our Lady of Mount Carmel's feast day and honour the town's older residents, and the Mediterranean Music Festival, where you are sure to hear habaneras (first Thursday in August at La Platja and 14 August at Cala Montgró). Finally, sardanas by the sea are a favourite activity for summer nights (every Wednesday in July and August at 10 pm at La Platja).
