On this final day of competition, sailors and organisers approached the day with the aim of making the most of every opportunity to sail and to conclude the championship with a strong sporting performance.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>After the start of the week marked by highly variable conditions, today also began with meteorological uncertainty. Early in the morning, wind at the race area ranged between 1 and 2 knots, with a variable direction between 20\u00ba and 50\u00ba, forcing the Race Committee to keep AP displayed while monitoring the evolution of conditions.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>As the hours passed, however, the situation gradually improved. Around midday, the wind increased to 5 knots from 100\u00ba, and shortly afterwards it stabilised between 7 and 8 knots, also easterly, opening a favourable window for racing. In response to this positive development, the Race Committee activated the starting procedure with Delta hoisted at 12:45 pm, allowing the racing day to begin.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p><\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Three races to decide the championship<\/h3>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>    <figure class=\"image-banner\">\t\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nauticescala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/day6moth-lau03863.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\n\t<\/figure><!-- end image-banner -->\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p><\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>With stable conditions, the fleet was able to complete <strong>three races<\/strong> on this decisive final day, in which sailors gave everything they had after several days of high physical and technical demand. The session was marked by a high competitive level and the tension typical of a final day, with standings still open in different parts of the ranking. The wind ultimately allowed for a complete and competitive outcome, in line with the level maintained throughout the week.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p><\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enzo Balanger, European Champion<\/h3>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>    <figure class=\"image-banner\">\t\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nauticescala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/55332310831-7cabf12aea-o.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\n\t<\/figure><!-- end image-banner -->\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p><\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>After all races were completed, the final overall standings were led by <strong>Enzo Balanger<\/strong> (<strong>Club La Pelle \u2013 Marseille<\/strong>), who was crowned European Champion after a solid and consistent performance throughout the week. <strong>Ryan Littlechild<\/strong> (<strong>Australia<\/strong>) finished second, while<strong> John Harris <\/strong>(<strong>Woollahra Sailing Club<\/strong>) completed the podium. <strong>L\u00e9o Maurin <\/strong>(4th) and <strong>Charles Cullen<\/strong> (5th) also stood out.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>From a local perspective, <strong>Gerard Mar\u00edn<\/strong> finished in <strong>13th <\/strong>position and <strong>Marc Verdaguer <\/strong>(<strong>Club N\u00e0utic L\u2019Escala)<\/strong> in <strong>18th<\/strong>, within a fleet of high international level.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p><\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A regatta open to the public<\/h3>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>    <figure class=\"image-banner\">\t\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nauticescala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/55332733790-febf7eaf16-o.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\n\t<\/figure><!-- end image-banner -->\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p><\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>Alongside the competition, Club N\u00e0utic L\u2019Escala promoted an initiative to bring the regatta closer to the public. Between 13:00 and 15:00, a Mare Nostrum boat allowed fans, families and local visitors to follow the races from the sea. During the outing, attendees received explanations about the development of the regatta, the race area and its main protagonists, turning the experience into a unique opportunity.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p><\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Closing of the championship<\/h3>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>At 18:00, the Village at <strong>Club N\u00e0utic L\u2019Escala<\/strong> hosted the championship\u2019s closing ceremony, attended by institutional and sporting representatives. The event began with the presentation of authorities on stage, with the participation of <strong>Narc\u00eds Carreras<\/strong>, president of Club N\u00e0utic L\u2019Escala; <strong>Franco Greggi<\/strong>, representing the Moth class;<strong> Eduard Sall\u00e9s<\/strong>, on behalf of the Catalan Sailing Federation; <strong>Narc\u00eds Casassa<\/strong>, territorial representative for Sport in Girona of the Generalitat de Catalunya; and<strong> Josep Bofill<\/strong>, mayor of L\u2019Escala.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>Following the speeches, the prize-giving ceremony took place. In addition to the <strong>overall podium <\/strong>and the <strong>top 10<\/strong>, awards were presented to the top sailors in each category, as well as special recognitions linked to boat characteristics.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>    <figure class=\"image-banner\">\t\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nauticescala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/2026-nauticescala-international-moth-european-championship-2026-28.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\n\t<\/figure><!-- end image-banner -->\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p><\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>In this regard, category winners were <strong>Ryan Littlechild<\/strong> as best youth, <strong>John Harris<\/strong> as best master, <strong>Kai Adolph<\/strong> as best grand master and <strong>Victoria Schultheis<\/strong> as best female sailor. Regarding special boat awards, the recognition for boats built between 2020 and 2021 went to<strong> Marc Verdaguer<\/strong> (Club N\u00e0utic L\u2019Escala); the award for boats built between 2018 and 2019 went to<strong> Callum Wyper<\/strong>; and the award for boats built before 2018 went to <strong>Sergi P\u00e9rez<\/strong> (Club N\u00e0utic Costa Brava Vela Palam\u00f3s).<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>The event concluded with a local gastronomic tasting and a sailors\u2019 dinner in a relaxed atmosphere, where participants and teams shared their final impressions, combining sport, gastronomy and local identity.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p><\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Organisation and international projection<\/h3>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>    <figure class=\"image-banner\">\t\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nauticescala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/55324789645-735965d6ac-o.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\n\t<\/figure><!-- end image-banner -->\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>With this event, Club N\u00e0utic L\u2019Escala reaffirms its organisational capacity and commitment to international events, positioning itself as a modern, sporting club rooted in its territory, with the aim of showcasing the Mar d\u2019Emp\u00faries to sailors and visitors.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p><\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IMEC 2026 in L\u2019Escala<\/h3>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>The championship is organised by Club N\u00e0utic L\u2019Escala, together with the International Moth Class Association, under delegation of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation and the Spanish Sports Council.
