The event brought together participants, jury members, institutional representatives and visitors, reaffirming the competition\u2019s role as one of the leading initiatives dedicated to Mediterranean photography.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An Edition with International Reach<\/h3>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>MedFoto once again demonstrated its status as a leading photography competition, with a total of <strong>1,332 photographs submitted by 107 participants<\/strong> from several European and Mediterranean countries. This strong participation highlights the contest\u2019s international reach and its ability to showcase diverse perspectives on the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An Overall Winner with a Powerful Message<\/h3>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>    <figure class=\"image-banner\">\t\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nauticescala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2025-nauticescala-endangered-animal-ema-espagne-mediterranee.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\n\t<\/figure><!-- end image-banner -->\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p><\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>The photograph <strong>\u201cThe Last One?\u201d<\/strong>, by French photographer <strong>Oriane Jacquel<\/strong>, was awarded the <strong>overall winner<\/strong> title of MedFoto 2026. Taken on the coast of Llan\u00e7\u00e0, the image stands out for its striking visual impact and the reflection it offers on the fragility of the marine environment.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>In addition to the main award, the jury selected the best images in each competition category, recognising works related to landscape, wildlife, sports and leisure, maritime trades, underwater photography, conservation and climate change, the public choice category and photographic storytelling.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Diverse View of the Mediterranean<\/h3>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>The jury also recognised the best images in each category of the competition. Awards were presented to <strong>Katica Mustapi\u0107<\/strong> (Landscape), <strong>Filippo Carugati<\/strong> (Wildlife), <strong>Philippe Magoni<\/strong> (Sports and Leisure), <strong>Fernando B\u00e9jar<\/strong> (Maritime Trades), <strong>Xavier Mas Ferr\u00e0<\/strong> (Underwater Photography), <strong>Fernando Estarellas<\/strong> (Conservation and Climate Change), <strong>Miguel \u00c1ngel Carri\u00f3n<\/strong> (People\u2019s Choice) and <strong>Jan Latussek<\/strong> (Photo Story).<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p><strong>The competition also honoured several works with special awards.<\/strong> The L\u2019Escala Award went to <strong>David Parr\u00f3n<\/strong> for <em>The Memory of Salt<\/em>; the Costa Brava Award to <strong>Rosa Matesanz<\/strong> for <em>Loggerhead Turtle<\/em>; and the Humorous Wildlife Award to <strong>Jos\u00e9 Antonio Gil<\/strong> for <em>Shopping<\/em>.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Exhibition \u201cThe Sea and the People\u201d<\/h3>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>    <figure class=\"image-banner\">\t\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nauticescala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2026-nauticescala-medfoto-37-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\n\t<\/figure><!-- end image-banner -->\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p><\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>The event concluded with the opening of the exhibition <strong>The Sea and the People<\/strong>, featuring a selection of the finalist and winning photographs from MedFoto 2026. Installed along the waiting dock at Club N\u00e0utic l\u2019Escala, the outdoor exhibition aims to bring photography closer to the public while strengthening the connection between the sea, people and the surrounding territory. The exhibition can be visited free of charge at the Club until <strong>15 August 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Shared Initiative<\/h3>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>MedFoto is an initiative promoted by <strong>Club N\u00e0utic l\u2019Escala<\/strong> and the <strong>Alive Foundation<\/strong>, encouraging photography as a tool for raising awareness of the Mediterranean\u2019s environmental and human values.
