To guarantee the maximum safety of people and boats in the event of an emergency, good coordination between all the agents involved is vital, that is why on 13th March the Club organised a simulated fire drill involving a leisure boat which had a fuel leak and three injured staff from the Club, together with Civil Protection, Ports of the Generality, Mossos d\u2019Esquadra (Catalan police force), the Civil Guard, Generality Firemen and SEM (Emergency Medical Systems).<\/p>\n

The operation was used to test the Self Protection Plan and the Interior Maritime Plan of the port of l\u2019Escala, as well as the level of coordination between all the responding agents.<\/p>\n

What should I do if I detect an emergency situation at the Club?<\/h3>\n
\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n

The development of drills like this are integrated into the on-going staff training at the Club. The staff are ready to act in a first aid capacity in these kinds of situations.<\/p>\n

\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n

Speed, however, is of the essence in these cases, which is why your role is also important, if you should detect an emergency situation. When faced with an emergency, first notify the Club\u2019s Marine Staff who can be contacted 24hours a day by phone 972 77 00 16 or by radio VHF channel 16. They will immediately start the relevant protocol.<\/p>\n

If you detect a fire or a situation in which people are at risk, you can also call the emergency number 112. In any case, it is also important to warn the Marine staff so that they can facilitate the access and intervention of the rest of the teams.<\/p>\n
