Our objective is clear: to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to the regeneration of the Sea of Emp\u00faries<strong> <\/strong>through concrete actions reinforced by the <strong>Act Responsibly <\/strong>programme.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>In 2026, we initiated the process to renew the <strong>Blue Flag<\/strong>, a distinction that endorses environmental quality and responsible port management. This process requires meeting demanding criteria in safety, information, environmental education and sustainable services.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong>Renewal of the CETS certification<\/strong>, confirming our commitment to sustainable tourism in the Montgr\u00ed, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park.<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong>Energy efficiency:<\/strong> replacement of lighting with LED technology in buildings and outdoor areas, reducing energy consumption and improving visibility across the port.<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong>Sustainable mobility:<\/strong> incorporation of a 100% electric maintenance van, reducing emissions and advancing towards decarbonisation.<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong>Responsible water management:<\/strong> installation of 20 electronic meters to monitor consumption and detect leaks in real time.<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong>Selective waste collection and hazardous waste:<\/strong> renovation of ecological islands and containers for hazardous waste (contaminated rags and packaging).<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong>Environmental monitoring and quality:<\/strong> cleaning of the harbour basin and improvements to grey\u2011water and bilge\u2011water suction systems.<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong>Signage and information:<\/strong> updated signage in restrooms, communal areas and technical spaces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n              <p>This year we reinforce our commitment to environmental education with initiatives that link sport and sustainability:<\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/medfoto.org\/?lang=en\">MedFoto<\/a> 2026:<\/strong> an international photography competition dedicated to the sea and people, raising awareness of our relationship with the marine environment. <em>Entries open: 1 April.<\/em><\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong>Surfing for Science:<\/strong> kayak outings to collect microplastics and contribute to scientific research, in collaboration with Fundaci\u00f3 Alive and the University of Barcelona. <em>Starting 21 January, with weekly sessions on Wednesdays from 11:30 to 12:30.<\/em><\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong>Guided nautical activities:<\/strong> scheduled outings throughout the year, led by environmental educators and qualified instructors, interpreting the Natural Park\u2019s environment and teaching good practices at sea.<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong>Ocean Ecostructures:<\/strong> we maintain our BioBoosting System units, which regenerate marine ecosystems. They have already doubled biodiversity and captured more than 24 kg of CO\u2082.
