Since 2022, the Club has been working with Ocean Ecostructures to install <strong>Life\u2011Boosting Units (LBUs)<\/strong> beneath the pontoons\u2014small ecological structures that create micro\u2011habitats where algae, invertebrates and fish can settle, grow and feed.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n<p>Unlike conventional artificial marina surfaces, LBUs promote much richer and more diverse recolonisation, making it possible to study how the ecosystem evolves within an active port environment.<\/p>\n<section class=\"article-section\"><div class=\"container\">\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n                            <div class=\"accordion-block\">\n                    <div id=\"accordion\" class=\"accordion\">\n                                                                            <div class=\"card\">\n                                <div class=\"card-header\">\n                                    <h3>\n                                        <a href=\"#\" class=\"collapsed\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#collapse-01\" aria-expanded=\"true\"><i class=\"ico-opener\">&nbsp;<\/i>2026 Monitoring Results<\/a>\n                                    <\/h3>\n                                <\/div><!-- end card-header -->\n                                <div id=\"collapse-01\" class=\"collapse\">\n                                \n                                                    <p>According to the February report, the LBUs show:<\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong>37 species identified<\/strong>, compared to 23 on control surfaces \u2192 <strong>+61% biodiversity<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong>32 kg of biomass<\/strong>, compared to 21 kg on control surfaces \u2192 <strong>+57%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong>14 kg of CO\u2082 captured<\/strong>, compared to 9 kg on control surfaces \u2192 <strong>+57% capture capacity<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"___ccc16d0 fje8fi8 f1ng9h0j f1bwykku f18jd3zf\"><strong>0 invasive species detected<\/strong>, both on LBUs and control surfaces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"paragraph-in-scc-markdown-text ___1ngh792 ftgm304 f1iaxwol\">These results confirm that LBUs are creating a much more favourable environment for marine life and are helping to improve the marina\u2019s ecological quality.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n                                                \n                                            \n                                                \n                                                    <p>The organisms observed include a higher proportion of <strong>phototrophs (algae)<\/strong>, which generate biomass and create habitat, as well as <strong>suspension feeders<\/strong>, which filter the water and stabilise the substrate.
