Departure from 42°07’N / 003°08.6’E for a circumnavigation between the tropics that will end with the return to L’Escala.
The Davinci, a boat owned by a Club member, begins this week a great adventure: a trip around the world between the tropics. Departure is scheduled for Thursday and you’ll be able to follow the journey in real time, day by day, on Instagram.
A crew with an adventurous spirit
The main characters are Jordi Rodríguez and Xantal García, both yacht captains, who have decided to make their dream come true: sailing around the world and making the sea their home. They will be joined by Swan, a miniature schnauzer who will be the third “crew member.”
The boat and the preparation
The Davinci is a 15-metre Najad (2008), a robust and safe ocean-going sailboat that they have spent months preparing technically to face a voyage of this scale with safety, autonomy, and comfort.
Planned route and return to L’Escala
They will depart from L’Escala (42°07’N / 003°08.6’E), head down to the Strait of Gibraltar, continue to the Canary Islands and Cape Verde, cross the Atlantic to the Leeward Islands and the Caribbean, and then proceed through the Pacific. The return will be via the Suez Canal or around South Africa, taking advantage of the westerly winds, and will conclude with the return to L’Escala.
