On August 14th, the new Management and Use Plan for the Cap de Creus Natural Park comes into effect. The regulations introduce important changes regarding speed and anchoring that should be taken into account.
As usual, anchoring is regulated in certain areas of the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park, as well as in some parts of l’Escala, with the aim of protecting the seagrass (Posidonia) meadows along the Costa Brava.
During the busiest months for boating, mooring buoys will be available so you can enjoy the sea while respecting the environment.
From August 14th, 2025, with the entry into force of the Management and Use Plan for the Cap de Creus Natural Park, important changes will be introduced affecting navigation, anchoring, and marine activities in the area.

Between the months of July and September, anchoring is not allowed in the area of El Cargol de l’Escala and it is necessary to do so using only the field of day-use buoys enabled with capacity for boats of up to 12 meters. These buoys are free to use.

Once the buoys are removed, anchoring will be allowed as long as the posidonia is not affected.
From the 1st of June to the 30th of September, Cala Montgó has a field of buoys distributed as follows:
The mooring buoys are managed by the Cala Montgó operator. As a result of the collaboration agreement with the Clubs of L’Escala and Estartit, the operator applies a special price to its services for members and users of the Annual and Season Forfaits will be able to enjoy this discount. Special rates for members and users of the Forfaits:
During summer months, the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park install buoys in Calas Ferriol, Pedrosa and Falaguer to regulate anchoring in these areas. The use of these buoys will be allowed between sunrise and sunset and their distribution is as follows:
Between the months of April and October, the surveillance and collection service for mooring buoys in the Medes Islands is active. The area offers red or orange and white payment buoys for private users that can be contracted annually or on an occasional basis.
