Making the sea accessible is a matter of commitment, but also of presence and education. On 26 April, Club Nàutic L’Escala took part in the 2nd Adapted and Inclusive Sport Day, held in the centre of Girona, an initiative promoted by the Girona Provincial Council with activities open to the general public.
As part of the event, the Club brought adapted boats to Girona to promote the project For an Accessible Sea, with the aim of bringing water sports closer to everyone. This action forms part of the Club’s initiatives to promote real, effective and inclusive access to sea‑based sports.
During the event, children, young people, adults, families and interested individuals had the opportunity to try out a range of adapted and inclusive sports. The Club Nàutic l’Escala was present with an adapted Access (Hansa) boat, with capacity for one or two people, allowing attendees to discover first-hand, on land, a vessel specifically designed to facilitate sailing for people with reduced mobility. The Club’s presence in initiatives like this, promoted by the Girona Provincial Council, highlights the importance of giving visibility to inclusive sports and making the sea accessible to everyone on equal terms. The event brought together nearly five hundred people in the centre of Girona, consolidating itself as a space for awareness and coexistence around adapted sports.
Club Nàutic L’Escala has adapted boats, accessible facilities and a qualified team of instructors, offering initiation programmes, courses, activities for organisations and discovery days, as well as ongoing opportunities for those who wish to continue sailing.
In this regard, the Club is preparing an open day on June 20, aimed at all those interested in learning about the “Accessible Sea” project and experiencing it first-hand. During the day, participants will be able to try adapted nautical activities in open water, such as kayaking, sea rowing or dinghy sailing, visit the Club’s fully accessible facilities and meet the team of instructors, with the aim of becoming familiar with the environment and assessing possible options for continued participation. To take part, it is only necessary to contact the Club’s Sports Office, where all the necessary information and support will be provided.
