MedFoto 2026 has closed its submission period with a very positive response, consolidating an edition marked by a diversity of perspectives and a strong international reach. The competition, promoted by Fundació Alive and Club Nàutic l’Escala, continues to grow as a meeting point for photography, the sea, and environmental awareness.
This year, 1,332 photographs were submitted by 107 participants from countries including Andorra, Germany, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Poland, Tunisia and Turkey. This level of participation confirms the project’s international scope and its appeal to both amateur and professional photographers.
The submitted photographs have been distributed across the different competition categories, reflecting the thematic richness and the wide range of ways of understanding the sea:
This volume and variety of works reinforce MedFoto as a project capable of bringing together culture, nature and territory, with a strong commitment to the environmental and human values of the Mediterranean.
At Club Nàutic l’Escala, MedFoto is seen as much more than a competition. It is a tool for outreach and awareness that highlights the relationship between people and the sea, aligned with the Club’s values of sustainability, marine conservation and respect for the territory throughout the year.
This edition also consolidates the project’s travelling nature, allowing the selected works to be showcased in different cultural spaces and events, expanding its impact beyond the competition itself.
These milestones will culminate in the public presentation of the best images, which will form part of the official MedFoto 2026 exhibition at the Club.
The increase in participation and the achieved international dimension confirm MedFoto as a benchmark in Mediterranean-related photography. Club Nàutic l’Escala highly values this evolution and the role of MedFoto as a shared project that helps build a community committed to the sea.
