On April, the Club Nàutic L’Escala has signed a collaboration agreement with the Catalan company Ocean Ecostructures for the regeneration and conservation of the marine environment of the port and its immediate surroundings.

By virtue of this agreement, four units of the Bioboosting System (BBS) will soon be installed in the Club, which allows the creation of complete ecosystems and the regeneration of degraded habitats.

Its implementation in the Club’s port facilities is part of the Seareg research project carried out by Ocean Ecostructures. The purpose of this project is the large-scale regeneration of the marine environment and to demonstrate the viability and scalability of different recovery techniques for marine species developed in different research centers based on BBS technology.

Thanks to this regeneration technique, the Club will become an active agent in the recovery of biodiversity and the fight against climate change. In fact, this project will improve the ecological conditions in the area of the port and its surroundings.

Once the first phase has been completed, the feasibility will be studied to increase the number of modules to six by 2023 with the aim of maximizing the regeneration capacity of the Club’s facilities.

The signing of this agreement follows the strategic lines of the 2021-27 mandate of the Club’s Board of Directors and its adherence to the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. It contributes to objectives number 14, protection of marine life, and 17, alliances to achieve them.
